History
Selected achievements of the BCS over 37 years:
1972/3 Successful campaign preventing the widening of Town Street.
1979/80 Fighting for weight restrictions on Town Street and encouraging proposals for a road to bypass the centre of the village.
1979 Installation of the clock on the facade of the Grange. Formerly on a building adjacent to the Tower graveyard, which fell into disuse and suffered vandalism.
1984 Extension to conservation area/Derby Road.
1987 Listed building status granted by English Heritage on many properties in the Conservation Area
2000 onwards - Successfully opposed original plans by developers to build luxury homes on land at Moss Drive now the Lawns.
Supporting Broxtowe BC planners lost appeal to build 3 terraced houses in front of the Grange. Renewal due on planning permission.
Interactive traffic sign installed on Town Street after much campaigning.
2007 Application/submission for extension to Conservation Area. The Conservation Area was extended in late 2008.
