The chest tombs around the tower had succumbed to subsidence and vandalism over the years. These pictures show the tombs in 2003.

The tombs were restored in 2006 and a new stone plinth was built around the four tombs closest to the tower.

The rebuild of the Old Church Tower boundary wall (shown in the background of the photographs above) was carried out in 2004 as part of the contract with the developers building the Lawns.  Every attempt was made to use matching brick and sandstone coping to blend in with the sound section, to the frontage, of the original wall.
