Summary of the Tower Project

The aim of the project is to transform the site of the Old Church from a neglected and vandalised area into a positive safe and accessible community garden facility.  It is centred on the restoration of the remaining Tower and the respectful regeneration of the graveyard. The site is a focal point within the village and is of historical importance locally.  The Tower is a Grade ll listed building and dates from the 13th century.

Within the tower there is space to display information of historical interest which on a changing basis could also feature displays from other groups. Access to the grounds is undergoing modification in compliance with DDA requirements.

The project has involved the installation of a physick garden and the creation of a small meadow area which will provide wildlife study opportunities for local schools.

Seating and interpretation panels have been installed which have been designed, developed and produced as part of an Awards for All arts project by schools and community groups under a professional artist.
